Headache
Played Settlers and Fresh Fish with the local gay strategy gaming group. I came in *second* at Settlers: my best ever! (I had 8 points, and would have hit 9 at my next turn. It was exciting.) I won Fresh Fish, but only one other person there had ever played before, so that’s far less impressive.
It was nice to get to do that. It’s good to meet people who aren’t linguistics graduate students.
I then saw The Triplets of Belleville, which was odd. I’m not sure if I liked it or not. This was 8 hours off from work, which was good, except not so much, because now I’m sitting here looking at odd legal terms and wishing I were asleep instead.

Just when I started to win at Settlers, my S.O. brought home the Knight and Cities expansion–more interesting, but harder. I absolutely suck. His nineteen year old son is the champ. No matter what we do, we can’t beat him.

I played Knights & Cities once — after I’d played Settlers twice (but in one sitting). I did well one game, through very odd dice rolls, but I played quite badly. I am not a huge fan.
You could ensure that his son loses by playing against N, one of the people I’ve played with here. He always always wins at Settlers.
Incidentally, do you also play with the bribery rules? (What will you give me for not putting the robber on your 6-ore with two cities?) This is, apparently, not allowed in the rules, but it’s so effective a strategy.
