Back from the beach
Maine, though, not Florida.
My sister found a little bitsy crab.

I used to catch them, too; we had crab races. The little ones never won, of course, but they’re so cute.
This morning we walked on a lovely path beside the ocean, a bit south of the beach proper. I want a house like these.

Though I think I’d prefer one even closer to the beach. In the winter, though, this would be lovely.

Where in Maine? I can think of some candidates, but nothing definite enough.

Southern Maine, actually. Ogunquit. It was amazing — there hasn’t been the huge number of Quebecois there over St-Jean Baptiste since 1994, and this weekend, I heard more French than English. It wasn’t called the Quebec Riviera for nothing.

As a boy I lived a little while in the Bahamas. In the morning I’d wake up to crabs, small ones and big ones, running across the kitchen floor.
Guess it beat the roaches I used to see in New Orleans.

Also, love the kitties. Just got a new kitten, Buffy; she fills the void left by the Slayer :-)

I would take crabs over roaches also. However, I rather like the “no unexpected living things in my house” rule.
Kittens are lovely. And I like the name.

Glad you like the name. Just as so many people didn’t watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer because of the name, I get some odd looks when I tell people my kittens name. Either they get it or they think I’m having some kind of wasp-implosion moment.

Do people still associate Buffy with WASP? I thought that went out with the TV show. I guess if you had another cat named Miffy or something. Or maybe if your cat was blonde.
Oh, now I want WASPy cats. Also to rewatch some Buffy.

I think it’s worse: people not familiar with Buffy think I’m attempting to give my kitten a waspy name, but I’m falling short of the mark. (Well, ok, these are mostly friends of friends or fiends of relatives who don’t actually know me…)
Yes, rewatch Buffy! I’m starting to feel alone writing so much about the show on my blog. The reason, of course, is that I’m going through the DVDs. But it’s not quite a topical topic.

I could rewatch it and start commenting on how good, for instance, “The Wish” was. I was just having this conversation last night: we ended up 2 Angel fans and 2 Buffy fans, so we just had different conversations. Better yet! Other Buffy fan *also* knew the musicals, so we could discuss how amusing OMWF was given the knowledge thereof.

Thanks for the ID. I thought it looked vaguely familiar, and wanted to make sure it wasn’t really familiar and that I was losing my mind. (I grew up a good way up the coast.)
