Colour me annoyed
Now, I often dislike the colours for a given season. I do. I won’t wear orange; I can’t wear most yellows. I can’t wear reds or orangey reds, only blue ones. I can wear any blue — like most people — and many greens and purples that tend to blue and not maroon. Turquoises. I can, of course, wear black. I do a lot of that.
As it happens, though, I like pinks and I like flowery dresses, so I’ve been quite happy this summer (but I would like to say that I know pink isn’t the new black. Black is the old black. Black is the current black. Black is the new black. Black will be the new black until the end of time). Now lots of people don’t look good in pink. (Arguably I am one of them. Still, I like pink, so I have a few pink tops and a pair of pink shoes.) Lots of people don’t want to wear pink. That’s good for them; I hate coral and won’t wear it, for instance. And salmon. I’m sure the point is clear: bluey yes orangey no. Whatever. We all have our own colours.
The other night, though, for some reason turned into a discussion of why we hate pink and why everyone who would wear pink is stupid and it’s ugly and blah blah blah. Of course something happened just as I was about to say I like pink, and the conversation changed, and I couldn’t bring it up later like some petulant ass, but I *can* be a petulant ass on my own blog.
Oh well. Next time I see them all, I’m wearing pink.

Hee. I don’t like or wear pink much myself unless it’s on the intense end (fuschia yes, pastel no) but I definitely emphasize with your annoyance at the “who would wear _that_?” I wore a lot of black in college (I had about 5 black turtlenecks at one point) and oh, my, did my mom try to lure me to the land of color. Unfortunately, her favorite colors were exactly the ones that make me gag/look sick. Oh well! (And now I happily wear things like turquoise and bright green and, yes, fuschia.)
