The 11th hour
To do before we leave at 5:30 tomorrow morning:
Checked bags:
- Pack bras and underwear!
- Pack a few missing shirts.
- Pack shoes.
- Make sure I’ve actually packed all my clothes; put bag in garage.
Carry-on:
- Pack books! Books, books, books.
- Pack geeky-magazines and pencils.
- Pack toiletries.
- Pack CDs.
- Pack camera.
- Leave computer sitting out, checking email until the VERY LAST SECOND.
Also:
- Go to depanneur, get snacks.
- Fix my hair colour.
- Shower.
- Shave.
- Sit with my cat, patting her and feeling guilt.
Note that sleeping is not in there. This is so that I can sleep for most of the plane rides tomorrow. I think it is an intelligent way to travel.

Most excellent 11th hour plan!

I like it. Which is good. If I didn’t, I’d be in big trouble. Of course, I’ve done this for the past I have no idea how many trips, so maybe if I didn’t, I’d be a masochist.

I always go nuts with the books. I can never tell what I’m going to be in the mood to read, and it’s essential for travel time to pass without my noticing it that I have the book that suits the mood that happens to befall me. I tend to carry at least 10 on board with me.

I didn’t read so much on the plane. I don’t know what I did on the plane, really. But it’s okay. I’m now immersed in the story of the Bounty, and how lovely they’re saying Tahiti is. I can just imagine.
