Oh, and I’ve got PMS
I decided I need to change things. I’m not meeting anyone new, and I’d like to. So: suggestions! Things I should try to get me in contact with people I don’t already know. Preferably things that don’t require a huge money commitment, and clearly things that don’t involve a big drinking commitment. Please remember that it’s cold here, and I don’t like the cold.
This hasn’t ever actually worked for me, mind — I only ever meet people at school, it seems — but the worst it can do is continue to not work. Plus, I might get some good stories.

The tricky thing is that “meeting people” works best when you’re not really do things to meet people, and such things usually involve a reasonable time commitment. Volunteering for good causes is the classic answer - Habitat for Humanity, working in places that feed the homeless, etc. I’ve also found that exercise classes for the non-serious athlete are a good place to meet chatty women. So, no heavy duty aerobics, but things like jazzercise, water aerobics, even belly dancing for beginners.

Knit in public. People will ask you what you’re making.

I second the idea of a gym. It’s indoors so that’s a bonus! (Did you want to meet chatty women or men?) What about a book club? Cooking class? I’m trying to think of things I know you’re interested in where you may meet people with common interests…

Kewl, I finally got a “midafternoonish” rather than “when I really should still be asleep.” (I’ll come back later to claim one of those! ;))

The thing is, I have lots of activities I like that I do on my own. So I don’t need new activities as activities: the point would be to meet new people. I don’t really care if they’re boy people or girl people, just possible-friend people. Or possible boyfriend-people, I guess, but friends are also good.
I am supposed to start taking dance classes with a friend; that would be cool. Cooking is also a good idea — I keep intending to do that. I’m also hoping to take a woodworking (furniture building) class, which is something I have long wanted to be able to do.Gym: yeah. It’s a good idea, except I really never follow through on it. Classes are better.
I’m glad other people like my new timestamps. They were fun — if hard — to come up with.
