I don’t read *that* many books
I need a new library. The librarians there know me — and laugh at me! Don’t you run out of books you want to read? (Yes, at least in my severely underfunded local library.) Do we have a book on hold for you this time? (Usually yes.)
Oh well. I think I’m back above 20 books out again. And yes, I do go to the libraries on Friday nights — it’s right near my grandparents’ house. Try not to be too jealous of my super social life.

Different libraries have different books. You have a car. You can drive long distances and pillage *many* severely underfunded local libraries. :>

Well, yes, but there aren’t that many libraries with good(ish) English book sections.

Having a social life is highly overrated. I enjoy libraries on Fridays, too - they’re always empty then :)

I’ve never been a library guy, outside of doing research. If I want a book enough to read it, I must own it.
Yes, possibly a habit I should break. But, hey, according to Freakonomics, it’s more important (to your children) that you buy books than it is actually reading books.
Besides, have to support those writers somehow.

I haven’t read Freakonomics, so why is it better to buy books than to read them? I mean, I gather it’s important for your kids to have books around, but that — argh.

I think there’s some kind of message to be found in my packing most of my books in alcohol boxes.

Heh. Nice, pjm. I’ve got a mental image of going on a wild, drunken reading bender.
I need to break the buying books tendency I have. I have a stockpile of about 50 books waiting to be read. When unhappy, some people eat ice cream… I buy books.
