It was because of the lime
I got my poppy. Well, poppies: unsurprisingly, I lost the first one — those things slip off like there’s no tomorrow — and got another. Apparently Tim Hortons just has boxes of them at the cash.
The centres used to be green, and it still surprises me every year that they are black now. (Again, apparently: they were changed to green “more than 20 years ago”, then back to black in 2002 because the poppies in Flanders have black centres.) I understand this: I know that we are remembering people who died, too, and black is more appropriate. But somehow, I preferred the more hopeful green (which still appears on some of the literature, oddly).

Oh, that damn poem is burned into my brain (In Flander fields where poppies grow …)

Wait, are they doing this again? Is this annual or just leftovers? All I have is a red poppy where the red has falled off. I’ve got my Terry loonies though!

I think I need to get my glasses — I thought this was a post about poop.

PG, I thought I was nice by not calling this something about those larks, still bravely singing.
Sheepish, yeah, they sell the poppies every year. Once some store refused to allow them in, and there was a huge protest — I think people temporarily boycotted whoever it was — and now everyone allows them in. But, sadly, there aren’t so many veterans alive anymore, so mostly you need to be lucky. (Or find a place which has boxes of them at the cash.) I remember they used to go to the schools, but not anymore.
Unless you mean the poppy quarters, in which case, no, it was a brief thing, and I can no longer find mine. I do not have any Terry loonies, but I do have a victory nickel.
Michelle, hee. Rereading it that way is . . . special. :)

It is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS to read it Michelle’s way. Makes you seem very uninhibited, and a bit overanalytical.
And err, I was thinking you were talking about the quarters, but on rereading (the proper way), it is pretty clear that you were not.
