If people have enough fun celebrating the anniversary they won’t feel any need to do it again. Look at the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot — Englishmen have so much fun setting off firecrackers and hanging Guy Fawkes in effigy they don’t feel any need to blow up Parliament.

Hmm … firecrackers are like bombs only smaller. So, you could sign tiny little petitions! With tiny pens! And surely there must be someone you can hang in effigy — that’s always fun.
