Congratulations and
Best wishes to Moebius Stripper, who has had her offer accepted on a condo. Since she almost certainly is in a building with more co-owners than I am, I wish her great joy at the condo meetings. With luck, her first annual meeting will not end with someone leaving the meeting crying; if it does, I hope it’s not her (it was not me).

do condo owners really have to go to those meetings?

I know our annual meetings require 100% attendance. But there are 6 co-owners, so maybe it’s just that fewer wouldn’t hit the minimum percentage? But MS is in a different part of the country altogether.

Thanks. I am quite confident, though, that my condo meetings will not reduce me to tears, though they may well reduce me to a series of blog rants, each more snarky than the last.
But, it’s not over. I’ve been approved for the mortgage, and signed some papers. But! But! Dear Moebius Stripper - here are six new listings. I highly recommend you take a look at them before removing subjects.
Argh. Fortunately (?) only one of them looks like it might be better than the one I signed on, and I doubt it. (2 bedrooms! More area! But, not south-facing and not in as good a location. And I don’t really want in-suite laundry.)

I do not actually think they will reduce you to tears. And I am quite supportive of the person who was weepy about the meeting, because I think she’s being taken advantage of. (She is now threatening to sue the condo association. Sigh.)
You don’t want in-suite laundry? That was one of my requirements. I don’t want to have to go outside to do laundry. (And I wasn’t interested in a large building or a new one, so it was in-suite or nowhere at all.) But you might as well look at it? Or not. Hard to say. How important is south-facing? I like more space, though sometimes I feel I am rattling around in this place (950 sq feet).

I will not even look at a north or west-facing place. A non-south facing place that doesn’t face north or west either, I will consider if and only if it is perfect in every other way.
I don’t want in-suite laundry because 1) it’s a waste of space I’d rather use for other things, and 2) I don’t want the smell.

By non-south that is also not north or west, do you perhaps mean “east”? With as much space as I have, I am happy to use 4 square feet for a washer and a dryer. And I’ve never noticed a smell from them so whatever that smell is, I don’t want to know about it.
Mostly it is that I like to do laundry on the spur of the moment, or when I am out of clothes, and especially I like to let them run overnight.

I mean east, northeast, or southwest. All of those are negotiable.
And in the place I’ve signed, there’s laundry in the building (which I do insist on, being without a car and all).

Actually, I’m not even going to go look at the place-that-might-be-better. It either faces west, in which case I don’t want it, or it faces east toward a very busy and noisy street, in which case I still don’t want it.
I’d have considered the 600 sq ft, southfacing place whose listing my agent just sent me if I hadn’t just signed on a bigger place with a lower list price, lower maintenance fee, lower taxes, a sundeck, and bigger windows.

As I said, laundry in the building was never a possibility for me. But I have 950 square feet.
You know, other than being smaller, more expensive, and with less of what you want, that new place sounds ideal.
