I often find myself thinking that I could get one more cat (I have 2). Cats are just so wonderful.
The way some people use the expression “crazy cat lady” really bothers me. Women are sometimes branded “crazy cat ladies” even when they have one cat! I was recently visiting my husband’s cousin and her partner (they’re both dog people who hate cats), and they referred to their grumpy old neighbor as “the crazy cat lady.” This woman only had one cat. I can’t tell you how annoyed I was. Meanwhile, this cousin’s sister has 4 dogs! And she is not “crazy dog lady.” Ugh.

I think crazy cat lady (in the relevant sense) kicks in when you hit the double digits (I’d need a larger place, of course, for that many cats, as well as a fenced outdoor area). I am a crazy cat lady in the sense that I am crazy and like cats, though.

I think “animal hoarder” is where things start getting dangerous. That may take more than just reaching double figures.

Oh! Really? You want two cats? Because just at this moment I have two that I’m trying to find a home for. Oh, if you only you lived in my town and could come and meet them! Actually, do you? I live in CA. If you do too and you’re interested, email me to find out more. I love cats and I’m so sad to give mine up. But they do fit your bill - two cats who would play together and (maybe) leave your cat alone!
