Why I hate and love digital media
Is there anything more dull and annoying than trying to rip and convert your dvds? Especially when they’re tv shows, so you’re trying to figure out which tracks are the episodes and which are other random things? There are 4 episodes per dvd, but 7 long tracks. Once they’re all converted I guess I’ll know for the next dvd. If people have advice or whatever, I’m using DVD decrypter to rip, and Auto Gordian Knot to convert to avi, and I’m working on Buffy season 1. I want to eventually get all 7 seasons done, so faster is way better.
There’s got to be some more convenient way to do it, but my googling has revealed me nothing.

Download ‘em all off of bittorrent? Takes a long time, but requires less thinking.

Yeah, I might have to do that. But it seems so unfair.
So far: track one is half of the first episode, and track two is every single episode on the first dvd. I’m waiting on tracks three through seven. But after this, I should have a better idea of what’s doing. I hope. Cause there are dvds I have that I’d like on my computer.

Back in the day, I used to spend a great deal of time converting my DVDs to DivX/XviD. There are various bits of software that let you preview streams. If I recall, DVD2AVI is a good preview (a crappy converter, but good for previewing). Doom9.org is pretty much THE site for apps and guides. You can find guides to just about anything you might want to do there.
