Who am I?
Pi and Shelly both seemed to think this would be an interesting meme, so: based on this blog, what kind of person do you think I am? If you’ve met me, what has surprised you about me?
This would be a very silly entry to get no comments, so please do. I promise to answer if anyone else picks up on this meme.

Ok, I’ll go first, with minor trepidation. I think of you as an extremely quiet person. I picture it not being motivated from shyness really, but just from being the type of person who likes to hang back, observe, and quietly take in the world. I think you miss very little though. My guess is that because of this you might come off as antisocial to those who don’t know you, although you are perfectly friendly. I picture you as being rather serious in face-to-face interactions (despite an appreciation for irony) - the kind of seriousness that makes creepy and annoying people accost you randomly and tell you to smile.
Lastly, I get the impression that you spend the entire summer on the beach, and spend the entirety of your time at home eating baked goods while reading or watching tv since you choose to never talk about work.
Ok, how’d I do?

All right. I have met you, and in general I found you to be very much as you present yourself here on the blog. That, of course, does not mean that I felt that I knew you in any totalizing sort of way. (There are very, very few people about which I’d claim such substantial knowledge, by the way. Certainly not any of my real life friends. I’d even think twice about claiming that about my husband, since he surprises me still after more than a decade together. My kids are probably the only people in this world that I feel I really know, and that will change as they grow up and away.) But the way you spoke and related to others and situations seemed to be very much as I’d expect from reading your blog.
On the shallow side, however. I *did* expect you to have curly hair, but I did not expect that it would be so gorgeous. You have rock star hair. Is it false advertising that your blog persona does not more accurately mirror your rock star hair?

Hee, I wouldn’t have imagined rock star hair! I’m jealous without even seeing it (I was already jealous, as I’ve always wanted curly hair).
I agree with a lot of what Sheepish said above. I do tend to think of you as a melancholic person - not so sad that you don’t have a sense of humor, though it’s a sort of dark, ironic humor.
Oh, and I think you like cats. ;-)

When we met I thought you came across more or less as you do online: quiet (not antisocial), well-read, observant, funny, artsy, empathetic…
I was surprised that you weren’t wearing turquoise glasses :)
And what Phantom said about your hair! You said frizzy. Hmmph.

I imagine all bloggers as non-descript people who spend all their time locked in the computer room. I think of them (us?) as wandering through the world appearing to enjoy ourselves but secretly thinking about how much we hate everything and composing snarky comments to make about people on our blogs.
But it’s not just you. I think of every blogger that way until I get evidence to the contrary.
I wouldn’t have guessed about the rock-star hair.

I suck at describing people so I’ve been thinking about this. I think I was expecting you to be quieter, and I wasn’t expecting the rock-star hair, either :)
I think you’re friendly (but in a reserved (not sure if that’s the right word; something contrasting with bubbly and in your face) way), thoughtful, funny, intelligent.
I thought you were more intimidatingly one of the cool kids before I had any off-blog contact with you, too.

I’ve always assumed your hair was much nicer than you claim ;-)
In addition, I think you are honest (maybe brutally so) with people you like, sarcastic much of the time, and sometimes difficult to get along with. I imagine that you are a good, fiercely loyal friend when someone deserves it. You are funny, smart, often despondent, quirky, artistic and adventurous. I would think you’d be a little too off-beat to be one of the cool kids.
And, yeah, maybe you like cats.

I think of you as someone who is well-read, intelligent, artsy, quiet, and sarcastic. As sheepish mentioned, I imagine that you’re fairly seriously when it comes to face-to-face interactions, but that once you feel comfortable/open up more, you have a wicked sense of humor (the type of person who would make the best inside jokes with your friends). I also have a feeling that you’re a people-watcher and you make note of little mannerisms about most everyone you meet (and analyze those mannerisms).

I meant to say fairly serious. That’s what I get for not reading it over.

Well, unlike a lot people here, I’ve not personally witnessed the rock star frizzy hair.
I think of you as a person typically deep in thought, usually serious thought regardless of whether it’s truly serious subject matter. I think you’re more of a cautious observer, but when you really give a shit, you speak up. I think you follow through and will reciprocate with people when they reciprocate. (Is that too vague? I think you’re friendly with people you like when they’re friendly.)
You’re clever and quick with a witty come-back.
You’re reclusive and reflective. And merciless when need be if even if the reflections. Honest, I suppose I’d say rather than merciless. Objective.

For the record, I did strike out “rock star” to be funny, but i guess it stripped the html.

Having met you, it is hard for me to separate the two. I realized I had *no idea* what you looked like before we met. And I think you were more outgoing than I was expecting when I met you. Or not. Because really you were outgoing in email and all and on blogs but you post about things that suggest a higher desire for inner life than outer life activities. Is this making any sense?
But definitely thoughtful and witty are two words that most immediately come to mind. With a wide range of knowledge/interests and very capable (you decide you want to do something, you do it).

I didn’t read your blog much before we met, so I didn’t know what to expect. I think on your blog you are a bit more melancholic than in real life. I think you are more abbreviated on your blog than in real life, if that makes sense.
