Avoidance is the better part of valour
I’ve been in a funk, recently. End of summer unhappiness? PMS misery? I don’t know. I can’t really figure it out. Is it a funk? I’m sleeping badly, having trouble falling asleep, waking up during the night, tossing and turning in the morning. I’m sure there are associations and reasons which I am assiduously ignoring.

My worst insomnia attacks are always the ones that happen around that time of the month. I mean, you may still be in a funk for some other reason, but PMS misery just makes everything so much worse.
In those instances, I don’t see anything wrong in medicating until it passes. If the only thing you are ignoring is something which will be gone in a couple of days, where’s the harm? I don’t usually need more than a couple of Motrin, but I’ve seen others talk about taking Tylenol PM and stuff like that. And, of course, if you’ve got some of the real stuff, so much the better. Whatever it takes to get some much needed rest for a couple of nights.
Everything will look better and you will feel much more able to deal with things once this crap passes. Hope you feel better real soon.
