Good news, I guess
Two of the four kittens have a home (or will, in the near future). I am sad to not be seeing them anymore. They are sweet and fun.
Tune in this January for round 2, where my “ack! must help animals” is balanced off with “must not actively try to be crazier than I already am”.
Right now I am debating whether I should put myself down as the last chance adopter of a 10 year old cat (10!), neutered and declawed, whose owners “didn’t want him anymore”.

Man, I hate when owners just “decide” they don’t want a cat any more. Especially a 10 year old cat. Bleah. I understand that people get into straits where they can’t keep their pets, but really - how? Oh, the humane society stuff is just too depressing…

I don’t get it either, particularly when you know the place you’re leaving your *pet* is not no-kill. Hmph. Anyway, yeah - sign up as the last chance. Maybe he can meet Matilda for a weekend or something, see if they get along?

Didn’t want him anymore? That is so sad.
I’m going to go scratch my boykitty’s ears. And tell him that we’re in this together.

That one was a particularly sweet one, but I have a thing for long-haired cats. I am going to consider it, really, and every time I’ve done that the cat got a home. This week I did 5 cats who were 8-10 years old (some just given up, some with dead owners). The thing is that Matilda hates adult cats, but can cope with kittens. Sort of.
The shelter stuff is really, really hard to cope with. I got a “we have 23 baby rabbits, and if you don’t foster them, we’ll put them to sleep because we have no room” email today. Poor rabbits. I think they’re atrocious pets, but they deserve better than this.

Good job, wolfa! You are a wonder, I swear.
One of my dogs was obviously played with A LOT. And then they just dumped him. I can’t imagine! He’s a sweetpea.
