					<description>My family has never had a cat that would chase animals in the house. When my parents' house had mice a few years ago, neither their nor my sister's cat - both were staying there at the time - would do anything but watch them run around the kitchen (usually disappearing behind the refrigerator). 

When my parents moved, my dad decided to experiment with letting the cats outside the new house for a short time each day. The thinner cat would just explore the yard. The fatter cat turned out to be not unskilled at catching birds and lizards. The cats don't go out now, but for a while they were given bells to warn the other animals.</description>
