In which I continue to hate blogger beta
So it turns out that all these blogs I thought haven’t been updating? Have been. I assume they’ve all switched over to (evil and obnoxious) blogger beta (where I cannot comment unless anon comments are allowed, as it logs me out of gmail to comment), so all the feeds have crapped out. Or something similarly stupid and annoying, but certainly about blogger beta. Time to go over my bloglines accounts.
And I think I’m in the mood to redo my links. Time to be lazy! Go leave your link in the comments.

Me too! Me too! I hate that I have to either (a) resubscribe or (b) get “updates” of 25 or more (very) old entries every time the person posts a new one.
Blogger Beta sucks! Which is why I haven’t posted, b/c I’d have to update. (Yeah, that’s why…)

For some reason, blogger originally created two feeds for my blogger blog; now that I’ve updated to the new blogger one works, the other doesn’t. I wouldn’t have updated at all except the dashboard was too hard to manage in the old blogger (lots of old drafts of posts were hard to reach) and now that I do most of my blogging on wordpress I’m wavering back and forth about just closing down the blogger blog altogether.

The issue of 25+ updates only happens when someone first switches over to Beta, or anytime someone goes and adds labels to old posts.
Weird that you’re not getting updates though. I just checked, and only one of my bazillion feeds doesn’t update on Bloglines.
I refuse to comment on Beta blogs that don’t allow anonymous comments. It’s just much of a pain to do. I usually type my comment, see that I have to log out (which would take me away from the comment I just typed), and scrap it all. Even more though, I hate all Beta Blogger comment pages. I have to exert a lot more effort to leave a comment, since I can’t just be cookied like I used to be, or am still with Haloscan and Wordpress.

Your blog is one that’s not updating for me, Sheepdude. I’ll just go and find a better one.
I also hate the comment pages, where I need to type my name every single time. Wordpress.com is free now! Switch over! Or at least use haloscan.
Eb, I don’t know your blogger blog, do I?

Hmm. Well, Bloglines lists three feeds for my blog. Two of the three update just fine, but the third stopped updating when I switched to Beta (forcibly) a week ago. Don’t know what to tell ya. Subscribe to the cool kids feed.
I like Haloscan a lot. It has IP info and allows the admin to edit comments.

wolfa, you’ve commented at my blogger blog (”no great matter”). It’s been nearly sixth months since I posted much there, though.
March 1st, 2007 at 4:35 pm
Oh, well, your *defunct* blogger blog. That’s stretching the definition. In any case, just as soon as I get around to it, I will certainly add your non-defunct wordpress one.
Sheepish, yeah. See above about “as soon as I get around to it”.

Well, I gotta tell you, you’re missing all manner of trivial posts with your hemming and hahing.
March 1st, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Sheepish, I think I haven’t been seeing your updates either. If you can be bothered, you can redirect the non-working feed to a working one so that people on it won’t have to each manually switch.
And Wolfangel, I hate that Blogger makes people not like me :) but I wouldn’t want to change now and lose all my past entries (or if I just switched to Haloscan, all my past comments).

I caught them today! But I was half asleep and didn’t really read them all. Apparently Lucy and Shrinky haven’t entirely quit posting, either, and I bet neither has B*. Who knew?
I don’t know how good wordpress.com is at getting old blogger comments — I know they say they can do it, but it’s easy to claim stuff. I forgive you, because you have anon comments enabled and no annoying word validation.

Hmmm, how would I do that? I don’t know nothing ’bout no site feeds. Guess I should dig in the template somewhere?

I hate Blogger Beta comments, too (yesterday I couldn’t comment because it required the captcha but refused to supply it), but it sounds like the feed problem is as much a Bloglines issue as a Blogger Beta issue. My feed reader (Sage) tells me if a feed is malfunctioning, so I can click through and find out what’s going on. Does Bloglines tell you there’s a problem, or does it just lead you to believe that the feed hasn’t updated?

I have that problem all the time — sometimes using a different browser helps.
I sometimes get a “feed malfunctioning” issue, but not with the blogger betas, it just shows non-updating. But your feed never disappeared on me. (I have many issues with bloglines, I just don’t really know where else to go, since I like to have it web-accessible.)

Yeah, I’ve tried Google Reader and I’m not really loving it anymore than I loved Bloglines (which is to say, not that much). There are other web-based readers out there, but I’m not motivated enough to seek them out. I’m just lucky that I’m almost never without my laptop. (Well, that’s because I don’t, you know, go anywhere — but that’s another issue…)

I’ve lost at least 10 feeds over the last four or so months & it’s always when the person switches to the new blogger. Damn blogger.
