Rhubarb cake sounds great.

I was confused by "anglo" at first, because in Australia, it's a word people commonly use to mean "white". It took me a minute to realise the bit elided when a Canadian uses the term is probably not "-saxon" but "-phone"!

My mother is pushy about cookies, and cookies are far easier.

I believe anglo/franco/allophone are used mostly in Quebec, and possibly Ottawa and New Brunswick. (They are also anglo in the Australian sense.)

The rhubarb cake, it is delicious. But rhubarb is sort of an acquired taste. Chocolate chip cookies, not.
