I think that is one of my favorite things about living in Montreal - it has taught me that the only possible downside to jaywalking is getting caught.

Can cadets give jaywalking tickets? I checked this and they can give parking tickets, but I’m not sure they can give jaywalking tickets.

I don’t know, but there were real cops around, and they kept following the people who jaywalked and having long conversations with them, something else I wanted to avoid.

I don’t get it. There are cops all over downtown, but they don’t stop traffic and help you cross the street? Instead they just stand around and try to catch you jaywalking???

You should organize a protest! Get a thousand people, more than the jails can hold, to dress up in bluejay costumes and jaywalk all over town! Show them some real jaywalking!

I think I’ve been reading that the cops are also supposed to give people tickets for littering this year or something.

Yes, you should definitely come for a visit. Usually, it is hard to not jaywalk.
