Sooner or later, an abuser will take and torture your cat if you let them run. It happened to me and then I found out it happens to most cats.

And that is only one of the billions of ugly things that happen to cats whose owners are not around to protect them. It is like letting a three year old run free in a shopping mall. You might get lucky a few times but it will end badly if you keep it up. There are a lot of abusers and the law will not help you. The Humane Society admits it rarely returns animals to their owners. You have to be there everyday to see who they bring in. Calling is not enough. They will not recognize your cat.

Yet cats need to be outside. They need to get outside for exercise, to eat the greens and for all the reasons we humans need to be outside.

That means saving the money to install a fence and putting this cat-fence-in system on top of the fence.

I have a great big long post on my site about installing the cat-fence-in system. Get them sterilized, get yearly vet exams for their teeth, and fence them in.

I say this in kindness as one who learned the hard way.
