a wolf angel is not a good angel

I was going to try to post more about the new Cirque show — Kooza — one which is about acrobatics and clowns (and too much juggling, which is boring). It’s fun, which is something that many of their recent shows haven’t been. Not that they were unenjoyable, or anything bad — but fun in the “ooh, ahh, smile” way, no. This one is — people coming out were happy. This despite the devils and skeletons with scythes. But they’re happy skeletons. (That was my favourite act.)

Oddly, most of the talk was in English. Or half, anyhow. I don’t think that’s ever happened at a show of their before, at least not in Montreal; I wonder if it was because it was Memorial Day weekend.

This is the first show in a long while that I’ve thought I should go back and buy another ticket for, immediately.

It’s got a weird touring schedule. Montreal now, then Quebec City, then Toronto, like usual, but after that Minneapolis, then California. If you happen to be in one of these areas, or nearby, buy yourself a ticket. (It’s fine for children, as long as they can sit through a show — 2 hour-long acts with a half hour intermission.)

I want to make one of my dark chocolate cakes. So I decided to buy the nice chocolate. So I went and bought 500g of dark chocolate. And got home, checked the recipe, and found I actually only need 200g. Plus side: extra dark chocolate chips at home. (They didn’t have this kind in blocks.) Minus side: somewhat harder to figure out how much of the chocolate I need for the cake.

Mmm, cake. I can’t bake today, because I am going to see the new Cirque show, which has had very good reviews, but that’s ok, because I can have cake tomorrow. And extra chips for another cake, or perhaps cookies, or snacking on, whatever.

New neighbours. They seem, in order of importance, (a) sane, (b) friendly, (c) my age, (d) anglo. (This last is good for condo politics.)

I intend to bake them something tomorrow. Cookies? The delicious strawberry rhubarb cake I ate in a day? Bread? They have no kitchen, but family here. I’d prefer not to do something particularly difficult, so no cakes. Brownies are also possible. I do not object to doing both bread and cookies, cause I have a very easy bread recipe. But which cookies?

Today is indecisive day chez me.

And to my last year of my 20s.

The feed issues I hear about, I am going to upgrade. Once it’s done, I will ask how feeds have been working, so if you don’t see another post from me within two hours, check?

As I maybe commented, I didn’t end up baking last night. I ordered in pizza, ate the pizza, took a hot bath, then fell asleep. So I am baking *tonight*, and those brownie things that need to sit in a fridge for 6 hours before I can eat them. I realise I have no brown sugar, so I am somewhat limited in what I can bake. Anyways, this can’t be that bad — butter, sugar, coffee, chocolate, flour, nuts, eggs. The other plus: coffee! I haven’t had coffee in a few days, and I wonder if my headache is a caffeine withdrawal one. So I am having a cup of coffee, and hoping that it helps. Really hoping: I can’t find painkillers. I found a bottle of them, but it was filled with pennies. What a disappointment.

Today I shoveled my way out, and tomorrow I need to shovel my balcony, since my neighbour phoned as a friendly reminder. Um, okay. It snowed *yesterday*; I don’t believe we have a 24 hour time limit to shovel. Not a chance I’ll finish it tomorrow, but I will shovel some, since it’s actually quite fun to do for 20 or so minutes at a time when you’re not in a rush (and have other pants to change into).

The snow was snowier than I had thought, and I can’t get my car out based on the amount of effort I am willing to put in. (All of that effort went to clearing most of the snow off the car.) So I will stay in tonight, and hope that someone else goes in or out of the alleyway and tamp down the snow there, or that our snow clearing fellow comes and clears the snow, or that there’s a sudden warm spell (it’s not much below zero, after all), so I can be lazy tomorrow. Otherwise, I will shovel more tomorrow and hope I can find my treads. I wonder if clumping kitty litter is usable for traction.

So tonight, I will be staying at home. Maybe I will read by a fire. Maybe I will watch a movie. Maybe I will order pizza, if I can pay by credit card. Maybe I’ll find someone to chat with (email or comment or something if you’re online and bored — I have most of the major im accounts). I didn’t have any other plans. But I am less happily trapped than usual.

I aim for 9 to 9:30.

The style of all white bedrooms, including especially all white sheets and all white duvets. Now, I’d say, oh, it’s just in magazines and stores, but I’ve seen it in real actual bedrooms that real actual women live in. Why? Do they have spare duvets for a week every month? I look forward to the style ending so I can buy myself a duvet cover.
