What I will miss about this office

Four more days of work, counting today as a full day, which it isn’t, because it’s already half over. And counting Friday as a full day, which it also isn’t, because I need to leave around 4. My grandparents will pick me up from work and drive me to the airport, hopefully just missing rush hour (returning from the airport is much less busy), and hopefully giving me just enough time to do everything, though this depends somewhat on how much they like e-tickets when I don’t have the credit card that made them. Weirdly, the first flight is about 50% longer than the usual time, meaning that I am on a stupid little puttputt plane. But I am not sitting next to anyone, so I will cope. I am not sure how well I will do on the transatlantic flights, because supposedly you’re only allowed one piece of carry-on, and I need my computer *and* my backpack. I will think. I am told that they don’t actually pay attention to the number of bags you bring. I hope.
I still don’t have converters, because when I went to buy one yesterday, they only had ones for just Europe (not good! Want the UK too!), or ones for everywhere in the world, but only for non-computery things. I will look again today. Should I also bring a surge protector? I think someone told me I should. I will be charging a laptop, digital camera batteries, and my ipod. Possibly I will have my cell phone and charge it so when I return to Montreal I can phone people while waiting in line at customs. (”I’m here! Get ready to pick me up! There are 27 million people waiting and only one customs agent, again, so maybe be prepared to pick me up in an hour.”) I doubt I will need to charge more than one at once, but I heard something about the converters being imperfect. But I can’t remember where, and I can’t find info that suggests I will need more than the converter. (My ipod is under ‘replace me!’ warranty, fwiw, and I can’t say I’d entirely mind if I got a new one, but I would be upset about the others.)
I also have many many books to read, including a whole lot of classics that either I’ve never read or that I haven’t read in a long time. I am having trouble restraining myself from buying *more*, though. I mean, who is to say that I won’t read, on average, 2 books a day?
Whee! How joyously not!
On the other hand, I get to feel zero guilt about leaving at 3 on Thursday. Maybe I’ll feel zero guilt about leaving earlier than that.
This time I got to work at around 8.15, which was super exciting fun in absolutely no sense at all. Plus, the metro was painfully crowded, where it’s not at 9. I do remember why I liked it, though: I get to leave work just past 4.
